Message From our Board President

Dear friends of the Waukee Area Arts Council and local arts:

The last few months have been exciting for the Arts Council. We’ve added some successful program components that we offer the community—such as the first Annual Waukee Arts Festival—and worked to improve some of our annual favorites, like our "Tuesdays on the Triangle" and "Sundays in Centennial" music series.

And we’d like to do even more. As Waukee grows, our mission of enhancing lives through the arts becomes even more important, and a little more complex. But, creating and maintaining a vibrant art scene in our community and supporting local and emerging artists is important.

In recent board meetings we’ve discussed various projects we’d like to launch. Ideas on the table: a short films event hosted in several venues, a local music festival, and an even bigger Waukee Arts Festival which includes a local and unique food market.

To help accomplish all this, we’re looking for people who would like to be involved in event execution and other Arts Council efforts. In particular, we are looking for people who feel they can contribute their time and talents in the following positions:

  • Volunteer Staff Coordinator
  • Support and Fundraising Specialist
  • School and Community Arts Liaison
  • We're excited about what lies ahead for the Arts Council and what we can bring to the community. If you would like to be involved—whether it be in one of the capacities listed above, or volunteering at one of our events—we certainly welcome you and hope you’ll contact us. You can reach us at (515) 402-7870, or email us at
